On the Saluda River
The Big Shoals of the Saluda are the reason Piedmont exists, and they’re still one of the best reasons to spend time here. This stretch of moving water draws anglers, paddlers and people who simply want to be near the river.
Fishing and kayaking conditions change with water level and weather. Use established public access, respect private property, wear appropriate safety gear, and check current river conditions before putting in.

Step into the mill history
Piedmont grew around the Piedmont Manufacturing Company, one of the South’s notable textile-mill operations. The river powered the industry that shaped the town, and remnants of that story are still visible around the historic core.
The mill story is more than a historic footnote: it explains the streets, neighborhoods, riverfront and identity of modern Piedmont. Take time to look at the old town fabric rather than treating the community as only a stop between Greenville and Anderson.
